Imee L
Applications Instructor

When Imee joined New Horizons, she brought with her over 15 years of graphic design experience. She spent eight years as an editor and art director for Tiaregirl Magazine in Hawaii. Like many graphic designers, she is comfortable working with the two OS giants: Mac and Windows. Her ability to switch between the OS’s seamlessly makes her the perfect person for students to go to if they find themselves in a similar situation. Her experience within the design industry makes her uniquely situated to teach her students both time management skills and how to relate to clients. She balances her classes to teach both real-world skills and theoretical skills. Imee enjoys teaching her students shortcuts that will help them streamline their processes. With such a long career in teaching, Imee is easily able to adjust her teaching style to match what her students need to understand the course material. Imee grew up in Hawaii and when she isn’t teaching, she loves to hit the beaches and go surfing. Her family is a large part of her life and she is an active volunteer in her community. She is a self-proclaimed “creative junkie so art, fashion, and graphics take me away!”

“I make sure to know each student in my classroom; I access their learning ability and identify their strengths in order to provide a cohesive learning environment that can motivate them to succeed. I make sure to facilitate clear communication and acknowledge what their expectations
and goals are in order to create an optimal learning path they can reach.”
